Integrating Technology in Our School

Teaching Dutch in Paris requires more than textbooks and grammar rules. It demands patience, warmth, and a genuine belief that every child can find their voice in a new language.

When a child arrives at DNSP, they enter a space where Dutch is not a subject to master but a language to live in. From the first Wednesday morning, they hear it spoken naturally. They see it written on the walls. They sing in it, play in it, and gradually, without the weight of formal instruction, they begin to speak it themselves.

Our approach rests on a simple truth: children learn languages the way they learn to walk. Not through lectures about how legs move, but through the act of moving. They stumble. They fall. And then they get up and try again. In our classrooms, mistakes are not failures. They are the sound of learning happening.

For the youngest students in our Peuters program, language arrives through play. A song becomes a lesson. A game becomes practice. A story becomes memory. At two and a half years old, children do not need to understand grammar. They need to hear the rhythm of Dutch, to feel it in their mouths, to associate it with joy and safety. This is how language takes root.

As students grow through primary education, the structure becomes more intentional. We follow the Dutch curriculum standards, ensuring that what they learn here will transfer seamlessly if they return to schools in the Netherlands or Belgium. But we never lose sight of the warmth that made them love the language in the first place.

Our teachers are trained not just in pedagogy but in the art of creating belonging. They know that a child learning Dutch in Paris is navigating two worlds. They are maintaining a connection to home while building a life in a new country. This is delicate work. It requires understanding that language is never just words. It is identity. It is family. It is the voice of parents heard in a child's own speech.

We measure progress not only through assessments and certificates, though those matter. We measure it in the moment a shy child raises their hand to answer a question. We see it when a student chooses to read a Dutch book for pleasure. We know it is working when a parent tells us their child now dreams in Dutch.

This is how we teach. Not by forcing knowledge into reluctant minds, but by creating an environment where Dutch becomes as natural as breathing. Where children feel safe enough to try, supported enough to fail, and encouraged enough to try again. Where language is not a barrier between them and home, but a bridge that keeps them connected.

Questions

Find answers to common questions about our school and programs.

How do we teach?

We believe in active learning where students speak Dutch from day one. Our teachers create a warm environment where mistakes become lessons, not failures. Every child finds their voice here.

What makes us different?

We're not just teaching language. We're building a bridge to Dutch and Flemish culture, keeping families connected to home while they build lives in Paris. Our small classes mean every student matters.

Can my child integrate later?

Yes. Our curriculum follows Dutch education standards, so students can transition smoothly to schools in the Netherlands or Belgium. We prepare them for that journey from the start.

What about younger children?

Our Peuters program starts at 2.5 years with play-based learning. Children absorb language naturally through games, songs, and stories. It's how they learn best at that age.

How do we measure progress?

We follow the Dutch Inspectorate standards and track development through regular assessments. Parents receive clear feedback on their child's growth in language and cultural understanding.
